Celina Agaton is an advocate for social technology for social change, sustainable partnerships and cross-sector collaboration.
While managing communications at Volunteer Toronto, Celina developed a program to provide low cost and free technology tools and program resources to support Volunteer Toronto’s community of 400 non-profit organizations. She created Volunteer Toronto's ChariTee campaign in partnership with the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, George Brown's School of Design and Me to We Style. She also conceptualized and launched Volunteer Toronto's Free Movie Night social change film series, to bring together funders, non-profits, business and volunteers, and to connect them to social innovation events and collaboration opportunities.
In August 2009, Celina launched the Us Now Global Screening Project as an independent initiative to screen online engagement and civic participation documentary, Us Now in collaboration with social change communities around the world. The project has screened in 7 cities and has plans to screen in 12 international cities.
In December 2009 Celina founded Films That Move, a free social change film series that helps people connect and collaborate in their communities. She also speaks to community groups about the benefits of social innovation, cross-sector collaboration and social media tools.
Celina graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Equity Studies and Photography and has over 12 years of experience in luxury, healthcare and non-profit communications.
Celina was a contributor social innovation bestseller, Macrowikinomics: New Solutions for a Connected Planet, the follow up to international bestseller, Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything.
In 2010 Celina was the Web and Social Media Director for Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone's Mayoral campaign.
Celina currently consults as the Community Engagement and Digital Marketing Director for Don Tapscott and the Tapscott Group, and other social innovation clients. She is an advisor to the Art Gallery of Ontario, an Ambassador for the David Suzuki Foundation and a Board Member for Food Forward.
Celina is currently developing a text, mobile and web-based global
cross-sector collaboration platform and directing a documentary on Toronto's food sustainability community.
